The new OxygenOS features were announced alongside the OnePlus 8 series recently. They include an improved dark mode, dynamic wallpapers and more.
OnePlus recently announced the OnePlus 8 series, its latest in the line of flagship smartphones. The brand also launched an update to the Bullets Wireless 2 in the form of the OnePlus Bullets Wireless Z. However, apart from the product launches, the brand also announced something that will benefit even the older OnePlus phone users. The brand has announced a bunch of new features that are coming to its OxygenOS platform.
We expect the new OxygenOS features to come to older phones including the OnePlus 7 and 7T series, and probably earlier phones as well. This is a pattern we’ve seen OnePlus follow before. The brand should soon announce the devices which will get the new updates and features. Here is everything new that is coming to the phones with future OxygenOS updates.
Smooth Battle 2.0
OnePlus refined the OxygenOS skin to bring in several optimizations that make scrolling through the phones much smoother and hassle-free. The operating system is also lightweight and provides a seamless software experience. The brand mentions 280 optimizations to make scrolling and navigation smoother than before.
New Dark Theme, Dynamic Wallpaper
OnePlus is also bringing in a new, improved dark theme to OxygenOS users. The brand has not mentioned what specific changes will come. However, we could expect improvements like better support for dark mode in third-party applications and similar changes. Further, OxygenOS will also be getting something called Dynamic Wallpapers. These will be sort of live wallpapers that will remain still, but will change shade according to the weather in your region.
Live Captions in OxygenOS
The new OxygenOS will come with support for Live Caption to the OnePlus 8 models. The Android feature was introduced back in May 2019 by Google. It allows users to see and hear video and audio captions in real-time.
Other changes
OnePlus has also mentioned that the brand will be teaming up with Google One to provide up to 100GB of cloud storage which users will get for free for the first 3 months. Furthermore, Google’s Stadia gaming service will also be available to users of the OnePlus 8 Pro. The feature will also come to a few other, older OnePlus phones and the brand will announce that list shortly.
