After Bharti Airtel’s ‘Wi-Fi Calling’ kicked off recently in select countries to enable its customers with free voice calls over Wi-Fi, Reliance Jio on Wednesday also launched Video and Voice Over Wi-Fi (VoWiFi) service in India, which will enable them to switch to voice over Wi-Fi inside their homes/offices.

“Jio has been testing this service over the past few months, to provide a robust experience to every customer at launch,” the company said in a statement.

Jio’s service is currently available nation-wide on over 150 smartphones. Customers can also make and receive calls with Wi-Fi using existing Jio phone number. To know which handsets are compatible with Jio Wi-Fi calling, please click here.

-Go to Settings

-Search for Wi-Fi Calling

-Switch Wi-Fi calling feature ON your Wi-Fi-calling capable handset

-Note that for a seamless experience you should keep both VoLTE and Wi-Fi Calling switched on.

Jio Wi-Fi Calling will be enabled pan-India between 7 and 16 January, 2020.

Commenting at the launch of this service, Akash Ambani, Director, Jio, said “At Jio, we are constantly innovating to enhance customer experience or solve their problems. At this juncture, when an average Jio consumer uses over 900 minutes of voice calls every month, and at a growing base of consumers, the launch of Jio Wi-Fi Calling will further enhance every Jio consumer’s voice-calling experience, which is already a benchmark for the industry with India’s-first all VoLTE network.”

Earlier, Bharti Airtel had announced Airtel Wi-Fi Calling service for its customers in Delhi, Mumbai, Tamil Nadu, Kolkata and Andhra Pradesh. The sevice is compatible with number of premium smartphones.
